Devotions: Receive Your King

Day 1: The Sovereignty of God

Scripture Reading: Colossians 1:15-20

Reflection: Today’s scripture reminds us that Christ’s sovereignty extends over all creation. As the firstborn of all creation, Jesus holds preeminence in everything, including His authority and power over the universe. His ascension into heaven and seating at the Father's right hand mark the ultimate affirmation of His divine sovereignty.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, we acknowledge Your rule over heaven and earth. Help us to trust in Your sovereign power in our daily lives, knowing that You orchestrate all things for Your glory and our good. Amen.

Day 2: The Holiness Required

Scripture Reading: Hebrews 12:14-15

Reflection: This passage echoes the themes of Psalm 24, highlighting the necessity of holiness to stand in God’s presence. It's a call to live a life set apart, marked by peace and grace. However, our own efforts are insufficient—only through Christ’s righteousness can we come before God.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, grant us the grace to pursue holiness and peace in our interactions and inner lives. Help us rely on Christ's righteousness as our means to stand before You. Amen.

Day 3: Jesus, Our Intercessor

Scripture Reading: Romans 8:34

Reflection: Christ's ascension is not merely a historical fact but a present reality with deep implications for believers. Seated at the right hand of God, He continuously intercedes for us, securing our place and our plea before the Father.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for Your unceasing intercession on our behalf. May this truth comfort and motivate us to live lives that reflect Your love and sacrifice. Amen.

Day 4: The King of Glory

Scripture Reading: Revelation 19:11-16

Reflection: Revelation presents a vivid picture of Jesus as the conquering King, affirming the truth we celebrate in the Ascension. He is the ultimate authority and victor over evil, and His rule is just and eternal.

Prayer: King of Glory, we eagerly await Your return. Strengthen us to be faithful witnesses of Your kingdom, and may our lives glorify Your holy name. Amen.

Day 5: Living in the Light of the Ascension

Scripture Reading: Ephesians 2:4-7

Reflection: Christ's Ascension speaks not only of His glory but also of our future. We are spiritually seated with Him in heavenly places, a promise of our eternal inheritance and the confidence we can have in His completed work.

Prayer: Gracious God, thank You for the assurance of salvation and our heavenly inheritance in Christ. Help us to live as citizens of Your kingdom, displaying the hope and grace that come from being raised with Christ. Amen.
