Test and See His Provision: Malachi 3:6-12 | 5 Devotions on Trusting the God Who Provides
Welcome to this week's devotional guide based on Sunday's sermon, "Test and See His Provision," from Malachi 3:6–12. As we reflect on God's faithfulness and generosity, these devotions will encourage you to deepen your trust in His unchanging character and overflowing grace. Set aside a few minutes each day to read, reflect, and pray, asking God to shape your heart into joyful stewardship in response to the abundant blessings we have received in Christ.
📢 These devotions are based on the sermon from March 30, 2025. Watch the full message here: Test and See His Provision
Day 1: The Unchanging God
Scripture Reading: Hebrews 13:8, Malachi 3:6
Reflection: Change is inevitable in our lives, often bringing uncertainty or anxiety. Yet, Scripture reminds us that Jesus Christ is "the same yesterday, today, and forever." Just as Malachi comforted Israel with God's unchanging nature, we too can anchor our lives in this stability. Today, trust deeply in the steadfast love and promises of your unchanging God.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for your unchanging character. Help me today to rest securely in your promises, knowing your love for me is eternal. Amen.
Day 2: A Heart Issue
Scripture Reading: Matthew 12:33–37, Malachi 3:8–9
Reflection: Our outward actions reveal our heart's true condition. Jesus teaches that our words and actions flow directly from our hearts. When we withhold obedience, generosity, or love, it indicates that something deeper inside us needs attention. Consider today what your actions reveal about your heart.
Prayer: Father, examine my heart. Reveal areas where I've prioritized myself over you, and renew my spirit to reflect your goodness and grace. Amen.
Day 3: The Discipline of Love
Scripture Reading: Hebrews 12:5–11, Malachi 3:9
Reflection: Discipline is uncomfortable, but it's always purposeful. God disciplines us not out of anger, but love—shaping us into holiness and maturity. As we experience trials, rather than despair, let's view them as moments where God lovingly molds our hearts.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for loving discipline that shapes me. Help me to accect your correction graciously, growing closer to you through each difficulty. Amen.
Day 4: Overflowing Blessings
Scripture Reading: Ephesians 1:3–10, Malachi 3:10–12
Reflection: God invites us to trust Him, promising blessings that overflow. The greatest of these blessings is our redemption in Christ. Reflect today on the riches of grace you've received in Jesus. How can you share that grace generously?
Prayer: Lord, overwhelm me anew with the richness of your blessings in Christ. May your grace overflow in my actions, speech, and generosity today. Amen.
Day 5: Joyful Stewardship
Scripture Reading: 2 Corinthians 9:6–11, Malachi 3:10–12
Reflection: True stewardship is joyful generosity that responds to God’s abundant grace. As followers of Christ, we're invited to reflect His generosity by freely giving our time, talents, and resources. How can your stewardship this week tangibly reflect your gratitude for His blessings?
Prayer: Father, guide me toward joyful generosity. Show me clearly where I can use my resources, time, and talents this week to bless others and glorify you. Amen.
